A tool that does one thing
really, really well.
Remove Line Breaks Online is a free micro-tool for anyone who has ever pasted text from a PDF and ended up with a mess of fragmented lines. We fix that — instantly, privately, without any signup.
Why we built this
Copying text from a PDF is a daily frustration for millions of office workers, students, writers, and developers. Every line that was visible on the printed page gets a newline character when you copy it — even mid-sentence. The result looks like a ransom note, not a document.
Existing tools fix this, but none of them do it well. They offer two or three radio buttons, a "Process" button, and nothing else. No batch mode. No smart detection. No diff view. No privacy guarantee beyond "we promise."
Created and maintained by Abhishek kumar, Remove Line Breaks Online was built to deliver the best experience in this space: one that handles every edge case — PDFs, Word documents, OCR text, spreadsheet exports, email threads — while giving you absolute control over your text with zero server uploads.
Privacy by design
All processing runs in your browser. Your text never touches our servers. We have no database. We store nothing. This isn't a legal claim — it's how the technology literally works.
No limits
Multi-page documents, massive CSV exports, entire contract PDFs — they all work. We show a performance notice for very large texts but impose no hard character cap.
Genuinely smarter modes
Smart PDF detection, list-aware processing, 8 stackable cleanup toggles, batch mode, diff view — features that competitors haven't shipped because their tools were built as one-afternoon projects.
Always free
No account, no paywall, no "pro plan." The core tool is and will always be free. It's supported by display advertising — not your data.
Who uses this tool
- Office workers and legal staff copying text from PDF contracts and reports.
- Students and researchers copying from academic papers and textbooks.
- Writers, bloggers, and content marketers cleaning up AI-generated or copied text for CMS platforms.
- Developers and data-entry staff cleaning CSV exports and spreadsheet cell content.
- Anyone who has said "why does pasted text look like this?"
How the tool works
Every line break is not the same. A PDF inserts a newline at the end of each visual line, Word distinguishes manual line breaks (^l) from paragraph marks (^p), Windows files use CRLF while macOS and Linux use LF, and AI chat tools often add hard breaks inside Markdown. Our engine normalizes all of these first, then applies the mode you choose.
Preserve Paragraphs joins wrapped lines but keeps blank-line paragraph gaps. Smart PDF looks at sentence endings, capital letters, and hyphenated words to decide which breaks are real. Remove All collapses everything into one line, and Replace with Space or Delimiter lets you turn breaks into commas, semicolons, or any custom separator for spreadsheets and code.
Because the logic runs locally in JavaScript, results appear as you type, even on long documents, and nothing is uploaded. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's network tab while using the tool and you will see no requests carrying your text.
Our principles
- Accuracy first. We test every mode against real-world samples — scanned contracts, two-column research papers, Outlook emails, and Excel exports — before shipping changes.
- Transparent guides. Our blog explains how to remove line breaks manually in Word, Excel, Google Docs, Python, SQL, and more, so you are never locked into our tool.
- Listening to users. Many features, including batch mode and the diff view, came directly from user emails. If something does not work for your text, tell us.
